The Open Application Interface (OAI) allows third-party applications to communicate directly with SpectraLink handsets.
The OAI provides the third-party application with access to the handset’s status and control features including display, keypad, icons and ringer. |

Using third party applications users can retrieve and respond to information using their SpectraLink handsets.
- Third party applications can send and receive real time text messages and alerts using SpectraLink handsets.
- Receive and retrieve information from systems such as nurse call systems, email applications, HVAC systems, ERP databases and security systems.
Third party application interoperability
Polycom verifies interoperability with applications developed using the OAI protocol through the SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application (SCMA) program.

Selected Fusion messaging solutions can integrate with KIRK DECT & SpectraLink Wi-Fi wireless telephone systems, to produce communications systems of unrivaled capabilities and have been developed by a vendor which has achieved SCMA certification. |
Scalability
The OAI Gateway is available in 6 different capacity levels - 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 and 2048 user capacities - and can be scaled up beyond this if required.
