The benefits of KIRK DECT in the hotel and hospitality industry
Services dispatch and staff management
| A KIRK solution enables heads of function and management to contact housekeeping, maintenance and front line guest services staff regardless of where they are on-site. Staff can be contacted instantly and alerted to the needs of a guest, reassigned to a new task or recalled to their station to deal with an immediate problem. There is no need to send someone to find them or to wait until they return to their station and, when integrated with a messaging system, the KIRK DECT phone network can send text messages to staff. | ![]() |
Courtesy phones
A KIRK DECT solution allows the courtesy phone network to be expanded and can extend the guest/client services offered.
Some hotels which host conferences provide the client with a DECT telephone. The client can contact the office quickly and easily to request assistance, confirm arrangements or reschedule breaks/lunch. Likewise, the hotel can contact the client to confirm arrangements or pass on messages.
Other hotels have provided valued guests with a DECT telephone enabling them to make and receive calls anywhere within the hotel complex.
Automatic calling of guest service staff / Staffing and productivity
Staff can be automatically recalled to their station to respond to a service call by integrating the KIRK DECT solution with a Fusion alarm monitoring and messaging system. This can improve productivity and deliver enhanced guest service.

Handsets for hotels and hospitality businesses
KIRK handsets are designed and built for use in the enterprise. They are extremely durable unlike consumer-grade phone designs. There are styles suited for use by reception, housekeeping and maintenance staff. All handsets are designed to stand up to rough handling and some models can withstand water spilled on them and still continue to function. This makes them ideal for the hotel environment where they will be in constant use and likely to be used in reception as well as the housekeeping and maintenance areas. The KIRK handsets are supported with a range of accessories. A belt clip and safety line allow staff to remain hands free to do their job whilst securely carrying the handset with them. Some handsets are equipped with a headset jack and/or Bluetooth. These allow staff, housekeeping, maintenance or kitchen staff for example, to take and make calls whilst working at their job. |

Lone worker support
Handsets can be provided with a button for use if staff get into trouble or face a potentially dangerous situation.
By integrating the KIRK DECT telephone solution with a Fusion alarm monitoring and messaging system staff can alert the office of their need for emergency assistance. This can be useful for housekeeping and maintenance staff working alone.
Guest security, safety and comfort /
Facilities and asset protection
Alarms and monitoring systems can be integrated with the KIRK DECT solution providing the capability to better deliver the duty of care/welfare a hotel has to guests and to protect the buildings and resources against loss or damage. Staff members can be automatically alerted if the fire or another alarm is triggered providing time for them to go to their stations and/or check for false alarms without disturbing the guests. Supervisors and management can be alerted to events such as the failure of the heating system or when freezer doors or emergency exits are left open. |
