The benefits of KIRK DECT in construction
A site office on the corporate phone network
If an IP telephone system is used at the head office a KIRK wireless IP solution can be used to set up the site office. Like the Wi-Fi access points used in voice over Wi-Fi solutions KIRK wireless servers connect directly to the LAN in VoIP telephony solutions. You can then benefit from;
As the site grows coverage can be extended by the addition of repeaters or, in the case of an IP system, base stations. These can be mounted in weather proof enclosures for use in exposed areas. When the construction project is completed the system can be removed and installed at another site.
Site alarms managed through the handset
Two-way text messaging allows the handsets to be used as pagers and they can be integrated with alarm systems to provide immediate notification of the activation of alarms which monitor access to secure areas or the breakdown of equipment. In situations where an employee is working unaccompanied or in a remote part of the site a Fusion messaging solution can provide KIRK handsets with a panic alarm button for use in emergency situations.
Handsets for the construction industry
KIRK handsets are designed and built for use in the workplace. They are extremely durable unlike consumer-grade phone designs. The handsets are tough but stylish. Designed for industrial use they will withstand splashing water and dust and features include loudspeaker/hands free operation, vibration and a headset socket. They are as well suited to use in the harsh environment of a building site as they are to use in the admin office. An optional belt clip from the range of accessories which supports the KIRK handsets enables staff to remain hands free to do their job whilst securely carrying the handset with them. KIRK handsets have a talk time of 16 hours and a standby time of 150 hours so site staff can keep the handset with them for the full working day without it needing a recharge. |

Solutions for an IP-PBX, traditional PBX, or no PBX
You do not need to change your telephone system to benefit from the KIRK handsets. The system will retrofit to most existing telephone equipment and solutions can be deployed on VoIP or traditional PBX equipment there is even a solution for site offices which do not use a PBX.
For example connected to an IP-PBX such as a Splicecom each user gets their own DDI number on the standard telephone system and they can make and receive calls anywhere on site. Calls to co-workers on the system are free and text messages can be left, whether as a quick reminder, because the line is busy, or because the person can't hear or can't be disturbed. Calls can be logged, undesirable numbers barred and each user has access to voicemail.
KIRK DECT with a traditional PBX solution : For sites with a traditional PBX a KIRK 500 or Distybase duo will provide up to 8 handsets but with more limited functionality.
No PBX : In the case of sites with no PBX but incoming analogue telephone lines a Distybase duo will connect directly to up to two analogue lines and can be used as a local switchboard. It will handle up to 8 DECT handsets and provide a range of PBX type features.
Mobile phone convenience with none of the ongoing costs
Mobile phones are frequently used for intra-site communications but these are not an ideal solution. Call charges can mean very high communications bills for the company and there are no call management services such as call redirection or transfer.
A KIRK phone mobility solution overcomes these problems and brings other benefits. Calls to site based colleagues are free and site based staff have a telephone link with the site office and the public telephone network no matter where they are on site. (inside or outside).
