| Presence | This is one of the elements of a Unified Communications solution. Presence information is a status indicator that shows the ability and willingness of a user to receive messages and communications. Presence information is a powerful tool for business. It allows a user to see who is available in the business, making it easy to set up meetings, and conference calls. This eliminates the inefficiency of phone tag or email messaging.
Presence Management is built into the Viewpoint desktop application from Vertical Communications. Viewpoint provides instant, real-time detail about the state of all users on the system. It gives you information about who is,
Presence works because a user's client provides presence information (presence state) to a presence service, which is stored in what constitutes his personal availability record (called a presentity) and can be made available for distribution to other users (called watchers) to convey his availability for communication. | PRI | PRI - Primary Rate Interface
PRI is a type of access interface to ISDN. There are several kinds of access interfaces to ISDN defined as basic rate interface (BRI), primary rate interface (PRI) and broadband ISDN (B-ISDN). BRI is a low capacity service intended for residential and small business applications. PRI is the high capacity service. PRI was developed specifically for industrial or high capacity users. A PRI is typically used to establish communication between the PBX operated by the customer of a telephone company, and the telephone company. |
| Professional wireless | Professional Wireless is used to distinguish production grade wireless solutions from consumer quality wireless solutions. In computer and technology terminology, "production grade" is used to describe more robust and rugged hardware and software that is designed for intensive business and enterprise computing environments. This is in contrast to consumer grade equipment, which would be used less frequently and for less intensive tasks. Learn more about production grade professional wireless equipment |
PSTN |
Originally a network of fixed-line analog telephone systems, the PSTN is now almost entirely digital and includes mobile as well as fixed (plain old telephone service, POTS) telephones. Newer developments such as ISDN are completely digital. PSTN traditionally works on an analog basis (even though PSTN-based networks are increasingly implemented using digital technologies). |
