Music on Hold (MOH)

A Music on Hold (MOH) system plays a pre-recorded programme for callers to listen to while they are on hold.

Typically you can choose to have the system play music, a voice message, or a combination of both.  In some cases MOH systems consist of a device plugged into your phone system that resembles a tape, CD or MP3 player. MOH systems can be connected to nearly all business phone systems.

MOH systems are often an additional purchase on traditional phone systems.  However, many market leading telephone solutions, such as those from Vertical Communications and TalkSwitch, include MOH as standard.

A mobile phone, mobile or cellphone is a portable telephone used for mobile telecommunications over a cellular network of specialised base stations known as cell sites.

In business mobile phones are used to provide telecommunications services for off-site road warriors and have been an essential tool for these employees for many years.

The problem is that the mobile phone is not a part of the company’s telephone system.  The means that mobile calls are managed independently of calls made from a desk phone, customers and colleagues need to use a separate number to contact the mobile user and, when used in the office, mobile call charges are incurred.

Vertical Wave can help solve these issues.

In telephony this refers to the ability of staff to move around a company site and still remain connected to the company's telephone system.

Giving staff the freedom to move around an organisation and remain contactable increases productivity and can reduce operational costs and expenses.  A robust and reliable on-site or off-site mobility solution can be the key to increasing their productivity, helping them to be more effective in their work and providing them with the tools they need to do their jobs.

This can be used to refer to personal mobility: In universal personal telecommunications, this means (a) the ability of a user to access telecommunication services at any terminal on the basis of a personal identifier, and (b) the capability of the network to provide those services in accord with the user's service profile.

Personal mobility is important for home workers where a homeworker can be given the same telephone services at home as they receive when they are in the office.
