Go Wireless with IP Office

The Avaya IP Office range of telephone systems is one of the most popular in the UK. Until now, however, it wasn't possible to go wireless over IP with an Avaya accredited solution.

Wireless makes a major difference to business efficiency. With 80% of workers no longer tied to a desk it allows employees to be contactable all over the building without incurring mobile phone charges.

Avaya's own wireless solutions have been provided by KIRK for some years and the company also supplies Inter-Tel, Samsung and Blick but retains its most advanced products to market under its own brand, distributed in the UK by ICON.

The KIRK 600 is a small and neat IP wireless solution using DECT. It provides up to 35 handsets supporting up to 6 simultaneous conversations. Coverage can be extended using a system of signal Repeaters.

DECT provides a fixed line quality of signal with total security and seamless handover from Repeater to Repeater as the user moves around. KIRK handsets are stylish, feature filled and robust. Models are available with dust and moisture resistance to CENELEC Industrial Protection standards, and ATEX and IEC approved "Intrinsically Safe" standards. This allows IP Office wireless to be extended into warehouses, production facilities and other harsh environments, previously not possible with wireless.

Tests have now been performed to verify integration between the KIRK Wireless Server 600 with amended software and Avaya IP Office version 3.0(40). This gives all Avaya Installers the opportunity to offer professional IP wireless on IP Office installations and means that end users can feel reassured the the integration will work perfectly. It also gives Resellers the opportunity for offer customers with an IP Office system the opportunity to upgrade to wireless with a thoroughly tested solution The product will be officially Avaya certified shortly.
