An IP PBX phone system streamlines the way a business communicates internally as well as externally.
An IP PBX is telephone switching equipment residing within the organisation rather than the telephone company. Calls are transmitted via a data network instead of the traditional PSTN (public switched telephone network) and configuration is done using a PC browser.
IP telephony puts the benefits of Unified Communications within easy reach of both enterprise and SME level firms.
Vertical Communications IP PBX solutions provide a migration strategy which allow organizations to move over to IP telephony in stages and during the process to exploit the new merged voice-data network by installing applications that make operational and economic sense. The IP PBX solutions from Vertical include Wave, TeleVantage and Xcelerator.
Voice over Wireless IP (VoWIP)
Combining VoIP with wireless to create a wireless telephone system for offices is an emerging market segment. There are two technology solutions one based on Wi-Fi and one based on DECT.
The Wi-Fi solution - This often referred to as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi).
The IP DECT solution - The KIRK IP DECT solution offers advantages over Wi-FI solutions. The wireless DECT handsets and infrastructure assure fixed line quality for mobile employees with no interference issues from 2.4GHz systems. It delivers all the benefits expected of a mobile Voice over Wireless IP (VoWIP) solution, offers easy scalability and is often less expensive than alternative Wi-Fi solutions.

Like the Wi-Fi access points used in voice over Wi-Fi solutions KIRK wireless servers connect directly to the LAN in VoIP telephony solutions.

Organisations send and receive billions of pages of fax each year. Many organisations using VoIP need to retain a single or multi site fax capability.
Transporting fax between PSTN fax terminals, through an IP network, requires use of the T.38 protocol in the fax gateways.
ICON offers two Fax over IP solutions - MESSAGEmanager and Faxination.
With many Fax over IP solutions provisioning for fax services in remote offices means installing a fax solution at each location. MESSAGEmanager T.38 IP FAX eliminates the need to deploy and maintain remote fax servers.

The location of a MESSAGEmanager T38 IP FAX server is independent of the location of the PSTN access point. The server simply needs access to a data network, Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN), where the routers reside. The routers provide the interface to the PSTN and documents remain digital over VoIP-enabled networks - including WANs and VPNs - until they reach the PSTN endpoint closest to the destination.
